Swimming pools at businesses such as hotels, resorts, apartment complexes, homeowners associations, health clubs, camps, water parks, and schools qualify for California’s current solar rebate incentive program. Solar energy provides a clean and affordable way to reduce the monthly energy bill for heating.
California solar heating systems for commercial pools now qualify for Assembly Bill 2249 (an expansion on the Solar Water heating and Efficiency Act of 2007). The rebate program is overseen by the California Public Utilities Commission as part of the California Solar Initiative.
Systems must use eligible equipment and must displace the use of either natural gas, electricity or propane as the fuel. Rebates vary depending on location, shading and other design factors.
This is a tiered program. Right now, the rebates are $5.00 per displaced therm for So Cal Gas and SDG&E customers. Once the funds are used up, the next level will be $4.00 per displaced therm. Vasco Solar will complete and submit all of the incentive application paperwork for you.
California Solar Initiative (CSI) Program for Solar Pool Heating
- AB2249 is now law and rebates became available for commercial swimming pools on January 14, 2014
- CSI is offering up to 50% (was 70%) off of the total system cost in form of a rebate
