Title 24, also known as the California Energy Code, sets standards for energy efficiencies

For new homes, Title 24, Part 6 Building Standards require Solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems on almost all new residential to reduce energy consumption.  These mandates apply to new builds, major renovations, ADUs, and additions.

Effective January 1, 2026, Title 24 also applies to Pool Heating requirements.   For new pools or first-time heater installations, Gas may no longer serve as the sole primary heat source.  Solar thermal pool heating, heat pump pool heaters or hybrid renewable systems are required.
